About the Agent

DON GATES is the founder and president of THE GATES GROUP, a multi-faceted literary agency working with church pastors and ministry leaders across the country. He handles a variety of publishing and ministry endeavors for best-selling authors: Lee Strobel, Kyle Idleman, John Burke, Jonathan “JP” Pokluda, Aundi Kolber, Dr. Michael Youssef, Trillia Newbell, J.D. Greear, Alan Noble, Brant Hansen, Justin Whitmel Earley, Mike Cosper, & many more. Prior to starting his own venture, Don was the Vice President of Marketing for Zondervan, the leading Christian publisher and division of HarperCollins. Before moving into publishing, Don spent fifteen years in brand management with his last role being Brand Marketing Officer at YUM! Brands. Previously, he was the Marketing Director of Hugs & Kisses at the Hershey Company; and oversaw Pepperidge Farm Goldfish at The Campbell Soup Company. Don received his B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where he played Ivy League football. He also earned an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern University. Finally, he gained a Master of Divinity degree in Worldview and Apologetics at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Most importantly, Don is a fun-loving husband, father and grandfather to his family, as well as reads widely and plays ice hockey.
